Celebrate National Fitness Day with our new ‘24-Hour Movement Behaviour (5S’s)’ Courses
This Wednesday (24 September) is National Fitness Day, which is the UK’s biggest celebration of health and wellbeing. It’s the perfect moment to shine a light on the importance of what we do across the whole day, not just focusing on exercise.
The 5S’s developed by the Leicester Diabetes Centre (LDC), draw attention to five key physical behaviours that affect health:
Sitting
Stepping
Sweating
Strengthening
Sleep
Our EDEN team, in partnership with the Leicester Lifestyle and Health Research Group, has developed two new ‘24-Hour Physical Behaviour (5S’s)’ training courses. These courses apply the 5S’s concept for multiple long term health conditions, they share the latest research, discuss shared decision making, offer practical tips, interactive group work and discussion to support real-world application.
The courses have been piloted with health professionals and received excellent feedback. Participants said they valued:
“Research evidence supporting the role of physical activity in different health conditions.”
“I feel more confident to give patients advice on physical activity.”
“How to implement in clinics.”
Delivery options:
Face-to-face or virtual
