FOOTWEAR FIT

Evaluation of Footwear Fit Guidelines Under Pressure in At-Risk Feet

Study title

This is a research study to help discover the effects that recommended footwear fit guidelines may have upon pressures and temperature in footwear worn by people with both diabetes and some loss of sensation in their feet.

Background

The main purpose of this study therefore is to assess the average pressure within shoes associated with each recommended footwear fit guideline. These guidelines specify the amount of toe gap or space between the longest toe and the inside of your shoe.

Study aims

The study is looking for individuals aged between 18 to 80 years old who have type or 2 diabetes and some loss of sensation in their feet, and who are able to walk independently without walking aids.
