upSTANDing GP
Background
Sitting or lying down for too long increases your risk of chronic health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes and some cancers. For people with desk jobs standing periodically throughout the day may reduce health risks.
This study consists of two work packages for GPs.
Study aims
Work package one will be a survey sent out to GPs in the UK to obtain their thoughts on doing some of their consultations standing up facilitated by a height-adjustable workstation. We aim to get ~1000 survey responses. Work package two is when GPs will trial a height-adjustable workstation for a short period of time to provide feedback on their experiences of using it during their working day with their consultations and administrative work where they can switch between sitting and standing postures. We will also interview patients on their thoughts on consultations being done with the GP standing up.
