Footwear Self-Assessment Kit for people with diabetes at risk of ulceration – A feasibility study

Correctly fitting footwear plays an important role in preventing foot ulcers in people with diabetes   

Background

 

This is a research study to help discover the effects that recommended footwear fit guidelines assess the accuracy, reliability and ease of use tools and instructions for measuring feet and footwear to assess whether footwear has adequate length and width.  

Study aims

 

The study is looking for individuals aged 18+ who have diabetes (either type 1 or 2) without any significant foot deformity or prior amputation.

The study is funded by a University of Leicester MRC IAA grant. It is also supported by the NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre.
