Five Leicester Diabetes Centre (LDC) researchers are heading to Chicago this weekend (20–23 June) to present their latest findings at the American Diabetes Association’s 84th Scientific Sessions, which is one of the largest and most influential diabetes conferences in the world.

Honouring excellence in diabetes research 

In addition to her scientific contributions, Professor Melanie Davies will be honoured with the 2025 National Scientific and Health Care Achievement Award from the American Diabetes Association. This prestigious award recognises outstanding contributions to diabetes science and care. 

Professor Davies is only the second woman ever to receive this honour and the first woman outside the USA to do so, which is a remarkable achievement reflecting her impact on diabetes research and care around the world.
